An unvented hot water cylinder often known as a Megaflow feeds directly from the cold water mains which connects hot water at a very high pressure. This allows for much improved showers and baths, and also allows for two taps to be run at the same time without pressure loss.

An unvented hot water cylinder is a pressurised system which is fed directly from the cold mains water feed and therefore can deliver hot water at mains pressure. This is great for improving the performance of your shower or bath and also benefits from good flow, while having two taps open at the same time which combination boilers cannot do.

Unvented cylinders don’t require a cold water storage tank, which is ideal if you are considering a loft extension and offers more flexibility when finding somewhere in the house to put it.

The water can either be heated directly via an immersion heater or indirectly via the boiler.

Unvented hot water cylinders require expansion vessels to be fitted to allow the expansion of water in the system as it heats up. Unvented cylinders also come with other safety mechanisms, such as pressure relief valves and twin thermostats.

To ensure safety and to comply with building regulations, it is essential that an unvented hot water cylinder is installed by a G3 qualified installer and serviced annually. At Boilers and Bathrooms Hornchurch we will ensure that your system is fitted to the highest and safest standards.
